Council Tax

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council has exempted care leavers from Council Tax

Council tax is exempted up to the age of: 25

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council does not include care leavers from other areas in their council tax exemption policy

To apply care leavers need to:
•Guidance is within the Local Offer and Personal Assistants will assist and promote
•Evidence of the Council Tax invoice is required.

Additional information / how to qualify:
Care Leavers are supported by their Personal Assistant to complete a housing application prior to their 18thBirthday. The children’s review will agree the support required to ensure a supported transition.
