Care Experienced Parents Charter Launches

Harrow Council – one of the first in UK to adopt pioneering charter Harrow Council has become one of the first local authorities in the UK to sign up to a new charter enshrining the rights of care-experienced parents. The charter, ‘Supporting parents in and leaving care’ was developed by care-experienced parents working with professionals from charities and local authorities.

Care Leaver Local Offer secures major statutory data collection change at the DfE

PRESS RELEASE 30/09/2021   Local Authorities are required to submit data returns annually to the DfE covering children in care and care leavers.   The DfE have today published statutory guidance and given 6 months’ notice in a letter to every Director of Children’s Social Care of the changes which will effect the 2022-23 Reporting year and beyond.

Local offers – Fit for purpose?   Local offers are a way for Local Authority to set out their entitlements for Care Leavers under their care. However, working directly with care leavers I found that many either still were not clear on their entitlements or they had real struggles with accessing their entitlements.
