Additional information / how to qualify:
We provide supporting letters to evidence their status as Care Leavers and submit with their
housing applications. We then monitor and ensure B and B status and liaise regularly with our
colleagues in housing.
Care leavers get to practice independent living with taster flats

Additional information:
We have a limited number of trainer flats that we sub-let from the council, and manage
ourselves. We have a nomination and interview process for some, and others are utilised in more
needs-led and emergency basis.

Details of council:
The Children in Care Council is for 11 years to 17 years and takes places on a monthly basis. It is
usually attended by eight to ten young people, however can be more. Every quarter Corporate
Parents attend the Children in Care Council.
The East Riding Children’s Participation and Rights Team organise the Children in Care Council,

Young people do not have to go through the complaints dept to access their care files

Young people who access their care files get emotional support before, during and after disclosure

Details:
Care leavers do not need to go through the complaints department to access their records. They
can make a request through the customer relations team/ Information & Governance Team or
make this request via their Pathway Worker. The local authority accepts any Subject Access
Request irrespective of how this is received within the authority.
If possible, we always try to provide their previous worker and will provide as much or as little
support as they would like. This varies per individual.
