Council Tax

Haringey Council has exempted care leavers from Council Tax

Council tax is exempted up to the age of: 25

Haringey Council includes care leavers from other areas in their council tax exemption policy

To apply care leavers need to:
For the purpose of this policy the following evidence will be sufficient to verify
that a claimant is a care leaver: Confirmation by Haringey Children/Adult Social Care Services that a claimant was „looked after‟;
Confirmation from social services team of another local authority that a claimant was „looked after‟; Confirmation from other public body or agency that a claimant was „looked after‟

Once worker is satisfied that they are capable of holding down a tenancy and they have attended a series of workshops including Money House, DIY and cooking on a budget

We have done work experience in the past and we are looking in to developing a programme at the moment for 10 university graduates to gain paid work experience

Haringey Council operates a guaranteed interview scheme for all care leavers applying for apprenticeship posts within the council, subject to the applicant meeting the minimum criteria

Young Adults Service holds an end of year party around Christmas time at Spurs stadium for care leavers and their children every year except 2020 due to covid pandemic. Food, drinks and presents are supplied by Young Adults Service
