Additional information / how to qualify:
Again Lancashire County Council would inform us in the first instance that someone was eligible. If someone came to our attention after County Council’s involvement we would take their Care Leaver’s status into account in when assessing for help with a deposit for a private rented property, if the applicant was homeless or threatened with homelessness; and/or assist them to apply for Discretionary Housing Benefit Payments for help with deposit/rent in advance.
Lancaster City Council in principle will assist with providing a deposit for care leavers in private rented property
Details:
It is dependent on their current housing status and financial status but being a Care Leaver would be taken into account in the assessment of eligibility.
