Priority is offered up to the age of: Band 2 at 17 years old and Band 1 at 18 years old if there are at risk of becoming homeless

PA arranges a housing meeting with housing officer / sends an email with Section 27 form and relevant ID to housing officer who then awards the banding

Care leavers do not get to practice independent living with taster flats

Additional information about work and training:
At Redcar and Cleveland Council all appren�ceships are sent to Children in Our Care and Leaving Care Teams 5 days prior to going out to advert to see if there are any suitable young people who would suit the appren�ceship. If the young person meets all the essen�al criteria a short work trial is arranged. This a good way to see if the young person likes the job and a good way for the employer to see the poten�al of the young person. If the work trial is a success the young person will then apply and be guaranteed an interview for the role.

We have a dedicated Careers Advisor that works specifically with CIOC / Care Leavers, support is offered around confidence building, employability skills and raising aspira�ons into EET.

Have your say council for CIOC only - aged 12-16 years old – approx. 7 regular attendees – monthly
Care leavers forum – once a month for all care experienced young people – approx. 7-12 regular attenders – the notification for the meeting is shared via care leavers – however we are in the process of making changes to the CL forum in consultation with Care experienced young people and our neighbouring LA – Stephen Hutt ( Senior PA) is the name lead for the CL forum

Yes we have a Business Mentoring Programme that is available to all our Care Leavers, mentors are recruited from business, veted and matched to young people to support their progression into work , employment , training .

Young people have to go through the complaints dept to access their care files

We offer direct support from PA throughout process of applying for files , counselling support offered and 1-1 support with PA reading files ( if Young person’s wants this support) with young person.
