Council Tax
Rochdale Borough Council has exempted care leavers from Council Tax
Council tax is exempted up to the age of: 25
Rochdale Borough Council includes care leavers from other areas in their council tax exemption policy
To apply care leavers need to:
PA providers confirmation to council tax that the YP is a care leaver.
Housing
Care leavers receive priority for social housing
Priority is offered up to the age of: 18

from 18 (17 if the Socoal worker/PA can evidance that the YP is tenancy ready)
Care leavers get to practice independent living with taster flats
Additional information:
There are 11 trainer flats and 1 taster flat for young people to practice independent living. The trainer flat is used for weekend/ weekly stays. The trainer flats allow young people to move and build skills to live independently.

Following consultation with young people they specifically stated they didn’t want ring fenced opportunities. Upcoming apprentices are shared with young people before going live and support to apply on an ongoing basis offered
