Lincolnshire County Council has published a Local Offer for Care Leavers in accordance with Section 2 of the Children and Social Work Act 2017

Council Tax

Lincolnshire County Council has exempted care leavers from Council Tax

Council tax is exempted up to the age of: 25

Lincolnshire County Council does not include care leavers from other areas in their council tax exemption policy

Housing

Care leavers receive priority for social housing

Priority is offered up to the age of: 25

Care leavers get to practice independent living with taster flats

Lincolnshire has a raft of supported living options though LCC staff housing with Rowston and Denton. we also offer supported living with NACRO who offer 72 units of supported living across Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire County Council in principle will assist as a guarantor for care leavers in private rented property

Young people can apply for the LA to act as a guarantor and the decision is based on individual circumstances.

Employment and Apprenticeships

Number of places per year: We have no upper limit at the moment in time

There are ringfenced apprenticeship vacancies for care leavers at Lincolnshire County Council

We ringfence hundreds of apprenticeships and they are always considered/offered for Care Leavers in the first instance apprenticeship vacancies are ringfenced a year

Lincolnshire is pleased to employ a number of care leavers in apprenticeships. Our Care Leavers apprenticeship scheme means that all our care leavers in apprenticeships are supported and funded by the LA, on LA terms and conditions and LA pay scales, regardless of where they are hosted.

We run 4 events per year where elected members and senior officers attend the "Big Conversation" to meet with young people and care leavers

Children in care and care leavers council

Lincolnshire County Council has a children in care and care leavers council

We have a full participation offer to young people and care levers through our voices for choices team. The leaving care service also has a dedicate participation and quality officer
