At Plymouth City Council care leavers co-produce the local offer.

Details:
Offer informed following Bright Spots Survey and in consultation through the Children in Care and Care Experienced Councils.
Offer currently being reviewed, Head of Service and Elected Members have met with the VOICE Group (representing the Children in Care and Care Experienced Councils) as part of the review. Young people are also meeting with Mark Riddell on his visit this week (22/06/23) and the feedback will be integrated into the review of the local offer.

Council Tax
Plymouth City Council has exempted care leavers from Council Tax

Council tax is exempted up to the age of: 25

Plymouth City Council does not include care leavers from other areas in their council tax exemption policy

To apply care leavers need to:
Plymouth City Council Care Leavers living outside of Plymouth City Council can also receive council tax exemption through their Personal Advisor.

We have an apprenticeship especially for a care experienced young person for our participation team. Our collaborative partnership with Barnardos has also recently offered a position specifically for a care experienced individual.

A number of Elected Members have pledged to offer mentoring to care leavers generally or in specific areas, such as UCAS applications.
Each directorate has committed to offering mentorships.
As part of the career progression pathway for ring-fenced apprenticeships we are committed to providing mentors for care leavers. This includes a current mentoring relationship.
