Council tax is exempted up to the age of: 25

Wrexham County Borough Council does not include care leavers from other areas in their council tax exemption policy

To apply care leavers need to:
Contact Leaving Care to request letter confirming their Care Leaver Status and forward to Council Tax.
Personal Advisors will generally support with this.
Housing
Care leavers receive priority for social housing

Priority is offered up to the age of: Currently 21yrs

Banding priority is: PRIORITY

Additional information / how to qualify:
Young People will need to be assessed as tenancy ready and their Personal Advisor will provide a supporting letter to support their application. Young People will need to provide Housing with a copy of their ID and they will need an active bank account for their application to be progressed.
Care leavers get to practice independent living with taster flats

Additional information:
We currently have a 2 bedroom flat specifically for this purpose; young people can also attain accredited Agored Units through this resource.
Wrexham County Borough Council will not in principle assist as a guarantor for care leavers in private rented property

Wrexham County Borough Council in principle will assist with providing a deposit for care leavers in private rented property

We will provide a reference if they are assessed as being tenancy ready.
