two taster properties available in Aberdeenshire. Young people can have as many trial periods as they require, lasting from one day up to a maximum period of 3 weeks at any one time.
Aberdeenshire Council in principle will assist as a guarantor for care leavers in private rented property
Details:
This is discretionary but particularly for young people accessing student accommodation for which we pay the rent of students in receipt of a Care Experienced bursary and for whom we have financial responsibilities. We have been occasionally asked to act as Guarantor for other privately rented accommodation for which we accept responsibility for payment of rent only.

Where necessary, we will pay a deposit on a privately rented property, however make it clear to the landlord the deposit needs to be returned to the council rather than the young person at the end of tenure. More recently, this is not so commonly requested, as landlords are not seeking deposits routinely.
